Citation search: using ‘Quoted by’ references

Citation indexes allow you to look up in which articles a certain publication is cited. This method allows you to search ahead in time: the literature that refers to an article is always more recent than the article itself.

So, this is a good way to find recent relevant literature. In many online databases, you can directly click through to a list of ‘cited by’ references.
